The latest 888poker $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event has crowned its champion but it is not the winner who has hit the headlines. Uzbekistan's "PokerKron" won the event for the second time in their career, which should be headline-worthy. However, "mr.salgado," the tournament's runner-up, banked one of the event's largest-ever prizes despite finishing in the bridesmaid position.
Some 1,040 entries were processed on Day 1, meaning the $100,000 guarantee was surpassed. By the end of the first day's play, only eight players had chips in front of them, and nobody had more chips than Brazil's "CaioCapT," who returned to the action armed with the equivalent of 105 big blinds.
"PokerKron" was hot on the leader's heels with 92 big blinds, while "Rors743" brought up the rear with a 12 big blind stack.

Usually, the final table of the $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event explodes into life and sees several eliminations occur within the first 20 minutes or so. Things were different this week, with short stacks doubling left, right, and center, and the first elimination did not happen until 35 minutes into play.
"silentfridge" of Sweden was the final table's first casualty. They open-shoved for 12 big blinds with ace-trey of diamonds and ultimately lost to the dominating ace-king of hearts in the hands of "mr.salgado."
"mr.salgado" struck again a few hands later, min-raising with king-seven of hearts and calling the ten big blind shove from "CaioCapT" made from the small blind with ace-ten of spades. The flop gave "mr.salgado" a flush draw, which came in on the river after the at-risk player turned a ten.

Sixth place went to Romanian grinder "BrittneySpew," whose stack had dwindled to less than four big blinds. They moved all-in with ace-king, with "PokerKron" and "mr.salgado" calling in the blinds with seven-four and nine-five, respectively. The all-in player spiked an ace, but "PokerKron" improved to trip sevens by the river, and the final table was down to five players.
Those five became four with the untimely demise of "Rors743." Down to six big blinds, seated under the gun, and looking down at ace-six, "Rors743" committed their short stack. "PokerKron" three-bet shoved on the button with pocket deuces, folding out the blinds. The phrase "deuces never loses" ran true with the five community cards keeping the lowly pair ahead. "Rors743" booked a $2,398 win, a great result considering they came into Day 2 as the shortest stack.

The next elimination flipped the tournament on its heads, at least in terms of the eventual payouts. "mr.salgado" min-raised on the button with ace-ten before calling the 23 big blind shove from "kebberanuil" made from the small blind with queen-jack. The ace of "mr.salgado" played, which busted "kebberanuil." The stack of "mr.salgado" swelled to over 5.6 million and his award increased by a huge $10,000 thanks to the mystery bounty being the jackpot!
Heads-up was set around the hour mark when "PokerKron" min-raised on the button with king-trey of hearts, "mr.salgado" called in the small blind with pocket jacks, and "makdraiv" defended their big blind with king-nine of diamonds. "mr.salgado" led out on the nine-high flop, "makdraiv" raised all-in for their last ten big blinds, and only the initial bettor called. The turn and river bricked, and "makdraiv" was gone.

"PokerKron" took an 8,707,746 to 6,892,254 chip lead into the one-on-one portion of the tournament. Before the first hand of heads-up play, both players discussed and agreed to a deal that lessened the pay-jumps. Play resumed with the deal in place, and the contest was over shortly after.
The final hand saw the players get to the river having hit trip jacks. "mr.salgado" overbet-shoved on the river with their trip jacks with a five-kicker, and "PokerKron" snapped them off with trip jacks and ten-kicker. Game over for "mr.salgado," but they walked away with almost $17,000 for their second-place finish, one of, if not thelargest prize awarded in this event.
The second $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event title of "PokerKron"'s career came with $9,080, including bounties.
