The World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas ended in July, but the chase for gold bracelets is never-ending these days.
Poker players outside the United States are currently battling it out for some jewelry on GGPoker. American players can join in on the fun later this month on WSOP Online (formerly WSOP.com) for a separate series that runs Sept. 29 to November 12. There will be 33 gold bracelets up for grabs on the Michigan-New Jersey-Nevada network. Pennsylvania players can compete in a secondary series that features four events.
Highlights of the WSOP Online Schedule
The series kicks off with a $500 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack event and $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Mystery Bounty ($500,000 guaranteed) on the 29th. Those first two tournaments should generate massive fields to kickstart what should be an entertaining series.
There are five events on the schedule that have guaranteed prize pools, all of which happen to be of the Mystery Bounty variety. No-limit hold'em will be the most prevalent poker variant played during the series. But there are also some tournaments for the non-hold'em grinders, such as the $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 6-Max Championship on Nov. 5.
The buy-ins for the series range from $250 up to the Oct. 15 $5,300 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller, and most events are scheduled to complete within one day. Nov. 10 is the start of the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Online Championship, the most anticipated tournament of the series.
“Grab your chargers and get ready,” said Senior Vice President and Executive Director of the World Series of Poker, Ty Stewart. “With legal jurisdictions on both coasts and now in the Midwest with Michigan, most U.S. players should be within a reasonable distance to log onto our network and get in on the action. The WSOP Online 2024 domestic schedule should feature the largest online prize pools of the year that players will not want to miss.”
The WSOP Online Bracelet Series is open to all players on the online poker platform, not just those who reside in the three shared liquidity states. But it is required of all players to be located in Michigan, New Jersey, or Nevada during the time of play. The same is true for those competing in the Pennsylvania series.

- The most widely played variations are Kalooki, Indian Rummy, & Gin Rummy. The goal of the two-player variant of Gin Rummy is to create melds while minimizing deadwood, or unmatched cards that count against players at the end of a round. - The basic goals of Rummy are the same in most variations, though the rules can change slightly based on the particular variation being played. In order to keep as few points in their hands as possible when another player goes out, players try to merge their cards into legitimate sets and runs. A predetermined number of cards—typically seven or ten, depending on the variation—are dealt to each player at the start of the game. One card is positioned face-up to begin the discard pile, and the other cards form a draw pile. Players take turns drawing a card from the discard pile or the draw pile, after which they discard one card from their hand. 25-04-20

- For instance, even though it might seem beneficial for your own hand, it might be prudent to refrain from picking up a card that you believe your opponent is discarding if you see them doing so. Strategic thinking is also necessary when discarding cards. Players should keep cards that have the potential to form melds in their own hands and try to discard those that are less likely to assist others. It's important to strike a balance between offense and defense; if another player leaves unexpectedly, you can avoid accruing penalties by discarding high-point cards. Also, it can take some time to master the ability to recognize when to break up possible melds for better opportunities, but it is crucial for advanced play. 25-04-20
- Making legitimate combinations while monitoring which cards your opponents have discarded is the goal. Players must choose whether to discard specific cards to prevent giving their opponents an advantage or hold onto them for possible future melds, which calls for both strategic foresight and memory. Until a single player successfully melds every card in their deck, the round is over. Rummy comes in a wide variety of forms, each with special rules and twists that can drastically change how the game is played. 25-04-20
