The year is well underway for Kerryjane Craigie, PokerStars Ambassador and Director of Poker at the Hippodrome Casino. With leaderboards heating up, thrilling competitions on the horizon, and a much-anticipated summer trip to Las Vegas in the works, there’s no shortage of action ahead.
There are also opportunities in The Ladies Club to travel to Las Vegas, while with WPA International Craigie remains committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive poker community. In this blog, she shares the latest updates, upcoming events, and a glimpse into the unforgettable experiences awaiting players this year.
How is it March Already?
Yet here I am, already deep in planning for a summer trip to Las Vegas, and it can't come soon enough! I love a visit to the Poker capital of the world, and the excitement never fades year after year. The leaderboards at The Hippodrome are up and running, and once again, I'll be taking a group of players for an unforgettable experience: seven nights of accommodation, return flights, tournaments, dinners, helicopter rides, and so much more. Let the countdown begin!
The Ladies Club competition is as fierce as ever, with tight races at the top each month. Two lucky winners will be joining me for this incredible, fully-funded trip, courtesy of The Hippodrome.
We also just awarded two trips to the newly announced PokerStars Open, with its first stop in Campione this March. The Ladies Club continues to be a fantastic way to win your way into major events—all for a maximum buy-in of just £35. Each month's gathering is reaching capacity, so be sure to stay up to date with everything here.
Exciting News for WPA International

Next month, we'll be launching new initiatives for WPA International, and we’re looking for advocates worldwide to help support women in poker. If you're passionate about growing the game and elevating women's events in your country or region, we’d love to hear from you. Head to WPA International and tell us why you’d like to get involved.
Additionally, I’ve committed our international arm to sponsoring a female player at least six times in 2025 providing complimentary entry into a prestigious women's event. The goal? More women at more tables around the world! These draws will be open to anyone that has a Hendon Mob footprint of $500 or less.
Check out some upcoming Women's Events that I'll either be at or supporting!
- 8th March - Glasgow Poker Festival, Scotland
- 12th March - PokerStars Open, Campione, Italy
- 17th April - Irish Open, Dublin, Ireland
- 21st April – Australian Poker Open, Sydney
A Final Note
I couldn’t wrap up this month without mentioning the Global Poker Awards. I made a whirlwind trip to Las Vegas for four incredible days, celebrating the best in the poker world. My first-ever nomination—and the honour of making the shortlist for something I love. It culminated in me being a bridesmaid for Poker Operations Director of the Year, however, a truly humbling experience to be in the mix, as voted for by the industry.
I could not have cheered louder for the amazing women that were celebrated and recognised for their awesomeness. And if you didn’t already know from last month what a fan of Rania Nasreddine I was, her win for Breakout Player of the Year was my favourite result of the night. Shout out to fellow ambassador Marle Spragg, who took the trophy in a tough well contested category, and rightly so. And one of my hero’s and Mentor to the Industry Lupe Soto – what a driven inspirational woman she is!

- Sorting cards by suit and rank is a useful strategy that makes it simpler to find possible melds. A player with a 5♠, 6♠, and 7♠, for example, should know that they are only one card away from making a run with the 4♠ or 8♠. Observe the cards you pick up and discard. 25-03-15
- Understanding the basic rules and goals of rummy is necessary to appreciate it completely. Depending on the variation being played, each player is normally dealt a certain number of cards at the start of the game, usually seven or ten. With the top card face-up, a discard pile is formed, and the remaining cards form a draw pile. 25-03-15
- It might be prudent to discard cards from a certain suit sparingly, for instance, if you observe an opponent picking up cards from that suit. In rummy, making decisions about when to discard and pick up cards is crucial. A balance must be struck between advancing their own hand and impeding the advancement of their opponents. 25-03-15
- A slot machine with a 96 percent RTP, for instance, should theoretically pay out $96 for every $100 wagered. This number, though, is derived over a long period of time and does not ensure specific results. Since higher RTP percentage slots typically provide better long-term returns, players should seek them out. Based on their individual preferences and financial objectives, players can choose which games to play by combining their understanding of volatility and RTP. 25-03-15
- Maintaining high-point cards for an extended period of time in the hopes of creating melds is another common mistake. Aiming for legitimate combinations is crucial, but holding onto high-point cards can backfire if your opponent goes out before you can meld them. If high-point cards don't fit into your current strategy, think about discarding them early to reduce possible losses at the end of the game. From its fundamental rules and goals to its more complex strategies, players can greatly improve their Rummy experience by comprehending these fundamental components. 25-03-15
- This is another crucial piece of advice. Take into account the card's compatibility with your current melds or possible combinations when selecting it from the discard pile. When discarding, on the other hand, try to keep your opponents from receiving valuable cards that could aid in the completion of their own sets or runs. 25-03-15
- These melds can be runs, which are groups of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit, or sets, which are groups of three or four cards of the same rank but different suits. Rummy's charm is found in the way it combines strategy, skill, & a little bit of luck. In addition to concentrating on their own hands, players also need to closely monitor the movements of their opponents. Because of this dynamic, players are forced to think critically and modify their tactics in real time, creating an engaging environment. Rummy is accessible to a broad audience due to its versatility, which includes two-player games, multiplayer environments, & even online platforms. 25-03-15
