The draw pile is the remaining cards that are face down on the table after each player receives a certain number of cards from the deck at the start of the game. To keep their hand of 13 cards, players alternately draw a card from the draw pile or the discard pile & then discard a card. In Rummy, a player needs to form at least two sequences, one of which must be a pure sequence (meaning it cannot contain a joker).
