The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) is set to launch its 2025 poker season with the return to Grand Casino Liechtenstein for the second Annual THM Winter Championship. Running from February 5-9, this festival hosts five trophy events, an estimated CHF150,000 in prize pools (approx. $164,645), and the first chance of the year to win a THMC Cape Town Million package.

With the hosts nestled by the Alps, the THM Winter Championship offers players the chance to mix their love of winter sports with their passion for the game. With the backdrop of Liechtenstein’s snow-covered peaks, players can hit the slopes by day and the felt by night. Satellites, cash games, and the headlining Main Event provide plenty of action to warm up even the coldest winter days.

A Packed Schedule of Events

The festival kicks off on February 4 with the first satellite and gets fully underway on February 5 with the THMC Opener. For a CHF120 buy-in, players can start the festivities with 30,000 chips and 20-minute levels, with late registration open for nine levels.

The Main Event, which has a CHF100,000 estimated prize pool, takes center stage on February 6, with Day 1A starting at 6 p.m. This CHF300 buy-in tournament features five starting flights, a 40,000 starting stack, and eight levels of late registration. Players can re-enter up to two times per flight, with Day 2 bringing the survivors together to fight for the title and a Cape Town Million package.

Alongside the Main Event, players can test their skills in four additional trophy events:

• THMC High Roller PKO: Starting February 7, this CHF880 two-day event offers 60,000 chips and 30-minute levels. Unlimited re-entries are available for the first eight levels, with Day 2 action resuming on February 8.
• THMC Winter Cup: A fan-favorite mid-stakes event, the CHF180 Winter Cup begins on February 8.
• THMC Closer: Wrapping up the festival on February 9, this CHF140 event features a 40,000 starting stack and fast-paced 20-minute levels.

Thanks to a partnership with the Sunbet Poker Tour by MJPT, every 2025 THMC Main Event champion will receive a $2,000 package to the THMC Cape Town Million. This prize includes seven nights of accommodation, venue transfers, and a tournament ticket worth R8,000 (flights not included).

Schweiger Shows His Swagger with Heads-Up Comeback

Hermann Schweiger of Germany took the title at the 2024 THMWC Main Event after overcoming a 4:1 chip deficit in his heads-up battle against Nicola Diaco.

Diaco had led the field as chip leader from Day 1a and almost took a wire-to-wire victory, having laid waste to most of the final table, but ultimately came up just short.

Schweiger outlasted the 506 runner field and, for his victory, took home the sum of 30,900 CHF, the Cape Town package, along with the trophy and belt.
