The 2024 PokerGO Tour season has just one remaining event, and it's a $1 million guaranteed freeroll that takes place on Friday.
Shannon Shorr wrapped up the "regular" season with a $290,000 win for taking down Event #6 of the PokerGO Tour Last Chance Series in Las Vegas on Thursday, a $10,100 buy-in no-limit hold'em tournament, his second win of the series. He defeated 116 entrants, capping it off by dominating a final table that was stacked with high roller regulars such as Stephen Chidwick and Sean Winter.
Final Table Action
Seven players returned to action on Thursday with Shorr holding a decent-sized lead over Boris Angelov, who would eventually lose a bad beat to finish in second place. Dylan Linde, the smallest stack at the start of play was first to go in seventh place for $46,400.
Jeremy Becker, who was grinding the low-stakes daily tournaments around Las Vegas not long ago, put his stack in with Q♣9♣against Angelov's K♦Q♦and couldn't improve. He was eliminated in sixth place for $58,000.
Final Table Results
Place | Player | Prize |
---|---|---|
1 | Shannon Shorr | $290,000 |
2 | Boris Angelov | $179,800 |
3 | Ren Lin | $127,600 |
4 | Sean Winter | $98,600 |
5 | Stephen Chidwick | $75,400 |
6 | Jeremy Becker | $58,000 |
Shorr and Angelov were in a tight battle for the chip lead at that point, but Ren Lin would go on a tear, doubling through Angelov and then busting Stephen Chidwick in fifth place ($75,400).
Sean Winter, who was down to just one big blind, would go out in fourth place ($98,600), and Lin had taken control of the final table. But the contest would do a 180 when Lin, holding K♠10♦, doubled Shorr, who had A♠6♣, back into the chip lead in what was the largest pot of the tournament at that point.
Lin would attempt to get his chips back when he moved all in with Q♣J♠, but Shorr called him off with the slightly superior A♠4♦. The best hand would hold up, leaving Lin with no chips and a third place finish for $127,600.
Shorr held a lead of over 2-1 when heads-up play began against Angelov, an online poker crusher who finished fifth for $2.5 million at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.
Heads-up play didn't last long. Shorr moved all in from the button with J♠8♠and was quickly called by a better hand — 10♥10♦. But the J♥appeared on the flop, and it was enough to win the hand and eliminate Angelov in second place ($179,800).
Shorr also won Event #2 for $297,500.
